Thanks to participating in the conversation class for three months, I was able to smoothly transition into Kobe YMCA Japanese Department. After studying Japanese I was accepted into Kobe YMCA College, Hotel Management, and it’s my hope to work at a hotel after graduating. I still talk with the people I met in conversation class and hope to remain friends with them forever.
Studying at the YMCA was really fun! I was able to make a lot of friends and learn a great deal. As my Japanese gradually improved, I became more confident and was able to communicate positively with my Japanese friends. I chose Kobe YMCA after my friend introduced me to the school and I came to love it after studying there for a year and a half. The teachers are very nice and teach in an easy-to-understand way that makes you want to participate in class. There was a lot of verbal practice and opportunities to practice speaking in the Beginner class Level Ⅰ. After continuing on to the Beginner class Level Ⅱ my conversation, reading, and writing abilities all improved.
I’m grateful to Kobe YMCA for arranging taxis for from the airport to school. It was a huge relief. Even though they told me my address before coming to Japan, the real estate agent brought me directly to the school. I wasn’t expecting that, either. After signing the apartment contract, the real estate agent and a YMCA staff member showed me how to get to my new apartment by train. In addition, they clearly explained the apartment rules.
Studying at Kobe YMCA every day was a lot of fun. My teacher was upbeat and always kept an eye on me. I felt comfortable studying in such a welcoming environment and my Japanese really improved.
From when I first started studying until now, I’ve taken classes with nice teachers and my conversation ability has gone from zero to being able to communicate well with my Japanese friends. There are people from all over the world in my class. Everyone’s experiences and reasons for studying are different, but we all understand each other and have become friends. Also, because the teacher’s teaching style has progressed from easy to difficult, it’s easy to understand new content. I hope you enjoy studying at Kobe YMCA!
